A Grotto is by definition a cave or cavern.  This one is a shrine to Mary.    I enjoyed the peaceful walk leading around the monuments and icons.

As I finished my last Writer’s Workshop with the complaint that I was complaining… Mama Kat heard me (and some others) agree.

So this week:

List ten things that make you HAPPY.

  1. The Ocean.  I love the sound of waves crashing.  It’s comfort food for the soul.san-fran-317
  2. My Garden.  Even though I don’t work at a garden with constant dedication, I do love that what I do turns into the best tasting gems!  I pray this year will be great.
  3. Hubby.  He makes me laugh every day.  He puts up with me and he loves me.  It’s that the best?!jan09-035
  4. Shadow.  She is always glad to be with me.  She follows me everywhere.  She never complains.  She’s happy; so am I.jan09-039
  5. Dark Chocolate.  Everyday.  Followed by a glass of red wine.
  6. Silence and being alone.  As much as I am a people person, I can’t wait to have time alone.  Ahhh the dichotomy!21-1200
  7. My kids.  They are a pain, but they also are the best.  I can’t imagine how boring my life would be without them!
  8. Bargains.  Coming out of the thrift store with a big bag that cost me less than 40 bucks for things that I could never justify otherwise.
  9. Friends.  No matter what kind of friends.  Thick and thin, nothing’s taboo friends.  Haven’t seen you for ages but it feels like yesterday friends.  Love that!dsc_0178
  10. Creating. I have longed to create ever since I can remember.  I have dabbled in many outlets.  Painting and Drawing.  Sewing and Needlecrafts.  Theatre.  Music.   Photography.  Writing.  They all make time fly.  They also all make me very happy!camp-merryland-2006-0051

The babies have arrived!

The bird house is on our deck near the bathroom window.  It is sheltered there, but we can see it too.  It has been busy with the activity of homemaking.  No easy task!  This week the babies were born.   They make quite the racket to get mama’s attention.  And boy do they eat!  They give “demanding” a new meaning.  Just a life stage…Soon they will fly off on their own.  I’ll miss them.

Hubby and the boys had been building legos. As usual, it turned silly.  Daddy was tackling James.  I just love his expression!

I got a voicemail from a friend in CA last week that was soooo encouraging.  I had given her a book (made from Blurb) with pix from a visit.   Here is a quote from her message:

“My friend looked at that photobook that you gave me and she was gushing.  She was a photographer for many of years for National Geographic.  Not only did she love your photos,  she loved the layout.  Because of the way you put the photos together… you could work for a magazine.  You are a wonderful photographer. Thanks for giving me that book,  I have shared that book with so many people.”

I certainly am not feeling like I live up to that!

Then, in my blog hopping, I came across this:

They were having a giveaway from Blurb.   I got excited to participate but got way too busy and got sick...

But the inspiration is still there!  Faces and Blurb.

So, check out Blurb.  It’s a great place to record your memories.  And check out the link above for some inspiration!
