The NEXT exhibit at the Corcoran  features up-and-coming art from the art school students.  Last week I took a break from the busy spring schedule and went.  A fantastic choice indeed.

The Chris Collat Band

Although they did not come away with the winning prize, they rocked the crowd with original music and huge enthusiasm.  Of course I am biased, but I am sure many who were there would agree that CCB is a fun and fantastic band.  “I’d see them again and again.  It was better than Cats.”  We will be seeing them around town a lot in the coming months.

I am not yet very good at the low light action photo.  These are a few that made my cut including a group shot ;)

Kate has a very fashionable boot on her foot.  Turns out she has a partially torn tendon in her foot.  And she can’t even say it’s from dancing… she landed on it while sledding in the ice!  She limped around on it for about a week before I relented and took her to the doc.  Some bad mom I am huh?!  She’ll have to have the boot at least until our next appointment on Monday, but maybe a couple more weeks after that.  Bummer!

The snow changes

From an ethereal blue

To a shimmery golden cream

As the sun makes its way up into the sky.

The trees

Hang on to each flake

Covering their cold branches with a shimmering blanket.

Small animal footprints

Wind across the yard
