First, an update.  My dear Rey’s story sparked much concern.  He’s fine.  I talked to his dad (and continue to) and got an adult side to the story.  It’s not pretty, but both of them know they can call on me.

Since then– a Disney trip.  Rich took the kids for several days with the rest of the Morey clan.  I got some much needed alone time!  Did some furniture rearranging and a few other things around the house.  But I sure was glad to have kid hugs again!

The next big news is that I have been exploring job opportunities…

Starting in May I will be teaching sewing classes part time!  It’s a small “get my feet wet” kind of thing, but I am happy that it’s going to be something I am already good at and won’t need to go back to school for.

I also have made a business plan for Simple and Green!  “Handmade items inspiring steps toward a simpler and more sustainable world.”  There is a new web site and a plan for many craft events–check it out!   www.simple-and-green.com  I hope you like it!

A desperate call at 8:30pm. The urgency grabbed James from his gaming when nothing else can. Dear R, like the prodigal son, returns to our home laden with bags. Everything he owns. In need of a hug and fighting back tears he explains why he left; why he’s on my couch for the night.  Not just a rash rant, but a pattern of fights and neglect that breaks my already broken heart.

I will not see this child who has grown up with mine be hungry or homeless.   He devours our leftover dinner and is thankful.  We set up the bedding and some rules…

This morning, I am uncertain what the future holds, and have to check myself; that must be his feeling every day. I pray.  It’s all I can do for now.

Tonight we revisit the broken path and try to mend it.

I spent some time of self reflection and of grieving alone.  It was good.

God has empowered me with blessings I didn’t ever know I had.  Such a family of support that lends love and courage.

I am emerging anew.  I know that 2012 will be memorable!

We all make choices.  That’s God’s plan–we have free will.  I really don’t like making New Year’s Resolutions.  I tend to make goals on my birthday instead.   This year, I need a new start.  I never lack for ideas but certainly lack of discipline has been my downfall many times.  Some of the words from my September list are:

Bible, Create, Initiate, Donate, Relax, Learn, Encourage, Plant, Finish.

I have been away from the blog all summer–mainly I have been scattered… and summer is my least favorite.  I will be getting back to a regular routine now… Fall!

We had lots of fun this summer…

All three kids went to R-camp.  Alexander for his first time.  He did great.

Kate had 3 weeks of dance camp.  One was sleep-away, the other 2 were day camp “intensive” classes.

James spent his time perfecting a new sleep pattern; stay up late, get up late, repeat.  During the few wakeful hours he mostly played video games.

We had a fabulous trip to Corolla, NC with my dear brother and his family.  The beach is a healing and peaceful place for us all.

We did some pool time this year, but much less than in past years.  Not sure why.  Kids didn’t seem all that excited about it, so I don’t need to be convinced to do something else!

We took a crew to the Museum of Natural History for a day.  That was nice since the kids are older and we can send off a group and meet back up.

And we did a farm adventure too!

Rich’s band, CCB, has had many performances in clubs, restaurants, and outside venues.  The most memorable was the 9:30 Club–a huge gig.  I love my Rock Star!
