Playing with the Big Boys

Picture 1 of 10

James is on his school team as a starting defender.  He had the opposing team avoiding his side of the field!  He’s a wall!

He loves playing with all his buds from school and from teams past.  So fun!

What IS that? Week 14

Last week was a shot of the presser foot on my sewing machine.  I was doing some edge- finishing on a few napkins, which Kate ended up finishing for me! ;)

This week can you guess?

Fresh and New

Alexander has been going through a lot lately.  Some good, some bad, always an adventure.

Today he played his first soccer game.

For a long time he said he didn’t want to play soccer.  Yet he was always kicking the ball with the neighborhood kids and his big brother!  Then, at a conference with school staff, we found out he always is playing soccer during recess–and that he could benefit from an organized team sport.  We signed him up late and after much deliberation.  He had one team practice where he “fooled ‘em all” into thinking he’d played on a team before!  Way to go!

Then, he decided to make another change.  A hair cut.  With a gelled up point in front.  He also finally lost one of his front teeth.  The other two next to it are all but falling out too!

Here’s to the fresh and new hair and experiences of Alexander!

What IS that? Week 13

Last week, uh earlier this week, the pic was of my very chewed up Bible.  Our very energetic and separation anxiety  inflicted puppy has taken a liking to books.  Any book.  Library books, school books, personal, paperback, hardback, and leather bound.  …sigh.  She is costing a fortune in replacement fees!  I know, I know!  Put the books away…  We DO! She pulls them from backpacks and book racks while we are innocently out having a life.  Therapy may be in our future.  Hers and mine!

Since this picture, I put duct tape on the spine and continued using it.  But days later, it was shredded.  No amount of tape could save it…

This week:  What IS that?  Can you guess?

What IS that? Week 12

I realize I am a bit late posting this.  My computer wouldn’t turn on last week.  My camera was still clicking tho so this week you may just find two what IS that posts…

Last week was indeed my newly fixed front screen door.  For Christmas, one of the things I got (no joke) was a new mailbox.  Inside was a promissory note pledging a new screen and a patched sidewalk come spring.  YAY!  (I love how it looks like sky and clouds, but is really Rich’s blue car and the neighbor’s house.)

This week  Can you guess?

FO–Fish Hat

This hat was an instant hit.  I saw it on a fellow dance mom/ knitter’s daughter.  She said the pattern is free; “just google fish hat”  So I did…here.

Then Kate took the mostly finished hat from my knitting bag and wore it around for a few days.  I grabbed it, threw it in the wash, wove in the ends and sewed on button eyes.  NOW it’s finished!

And she loves it ;)

Breakfast for Dinner

Since the weather can’t seem to follow the calendar and we are still in winter mode, we had waffles for dinner on Saturday. ( My computer wasn’t working last week.)  Kate very carefully placed her food and took this photo (using my camera under super supervision).  I think it looks as yummy as it was!

What IS that? Week 11

Last week wasn’t a real mystery, really just a cool play with light across this bar.  I really enjoyed the gloss on the wood…

This week, can you guess?

FO, a birthday gift

I made another Bunny Buddy.  This one is for my little buddy, Rachel, who turns 3 today.  I hope it will give her some comfort and joy. <3

Spring Makeover

The bathroom was feeling dark with a deep cranberry colored suede shower curtain…  the flower count hasn’t blossomed yet in my yard, so a grocery store bouquet was the answer.  I split it up around the house including this bit.  I pulled out the colorful striped curtain and suddenly all is merry and bright for a new season.
